Author reviewing a printed proof copy

Amazon has your readers. You don't

Someone finishes your book, loves it, and would happily buy the next one. You have no way to reach them, because the retailer keeps that relationship. An email list is the only audience in publishing that's actually yours, and it moves with you between retailers, genres and years. That's the real job of an author site. Everything else is secondary.

What an author site is actually for

Not a business card. Four jobs, in this order.

Own your readers

Amazon has your customers, you don't. A reader who finished your book and loved it is the single easiest sale for book two, and you have no way to reach them. An email list is the only asset in publishing that moves with you between retailers, genres and years.

Be findable by name

People search your name after hearing you on a podcast, seeing the book in a shop, or being handed it by a friend. If what they find is someone else's LinkedIn or a dead Goodreads page, that moment is wasted. Your site should be the first result for your own name.

Prove you're real

For nonfiction and authority books this is the whole point. Events, media, speaking, a proper bio, contact that actually works. It's what a conference organiser or a journalist checks before they get in touch.

Sell without getting in the way

Buy links to every retailer, not just one. Readers are loyal to their store and their device. A page that only links to Amazon loses the Kobo reader, and the one who wants it from their local bookshop.

How it's built

Author sites tend to fail slowly, through neglect. So they're built to be low maintenance.

You can edit it
You should be able to add a book, an event or a post without calling anyone. A site you can't update becomes a site that's wrong.
Email capture that works
Connected to a real mailing platform, with a reason to sign up. A signup box that just says 'newsletter' collects nothing.
Fast and mobile first
Most of your traffic arrives on a phone from a social link. A slow site loses them before it loads.
Findable
Clean titles and descriptions, structured data for you as an author and for each book, a sitemap, and a site that search engines can actually read.
Yours
Your domain, your hosting, your accounts, in your name. You should be able to walk away with all of it and owe nobody permission.

What makes an author site earn its keep

Most author sites are built once and then quietly go stale. Two things stop that happening.

You can update it yourself

Adding a book, an event or a post shouldn't mean emailing a developer. A site you can't edit becomes a site that's out of date, and an out of date site is worse than no site when a journalist checks you out.

People can find you by name

Someone hears you on a podcast and searches your name. If what comes up is a dead Goodreads page or a different person's LinkedIn, that moment's gone. Clean titles, proper structured data for you and for each book, and a site search engines can actually read.

It's yours, all of it

Your domain, your hosting, your mailing platform, all registered in your name. You should be able to take the whole thing elsewhere without asking anyone's permission. If a web company won't set it up that way, that's the answer to a different question.

Why Choose
Publisher In USA?

You've probably heard that publishing services take your money, take your rights and go quiet. The industry earned that reputation. So here's how we work instead.

You keep everything

Your rights, your royalties, your files. Nothing we make gets licensed back to us.

You see it before you pay

Scope in writing first. No work starts on a handshake and a number that moves later.

You can walk away with it

Source files, print ready files, accounts and logins. All handed over, all in your name.

We'll tell you no

If your book doesn't need a service, we'll say so. That's cheaper for you and better for us.

How the work actually runs

Five stages, and you sign off at every one. Nothing moves to the next stage until you've said yes to the last.

01

Proposal

Tell us where the book is and what you want it to do. We'll tell you what it actually needs.

02

Manuscript Submission

Scope and price agreed in writing before anyone starts. You know the number up front.

03

Production

Editing, layout, cover, whatever the scope says. You approve each stage as it lands.

04

Proofreading

Final proof on the typeset pages, plus a physical proof copy before anything gets printed at volume.

05

Publication

Retailer setup, metadata, categories and keywords. Then the files and logins come to you.
